The Daughter of Ra

Well, it seems that a respectable quantity of colors has been inserted in this image.. It didn't just happen. And ofcourse the colors are not in a random place.. But let's start from the beginning..

Unce upon a time, in the beautiful and mysterious Ancient Egypt, existed a Sun God named Ra, bringing prosperity and abundance to His faithful people. But as He was getting older, people started losing faith in Him, telling that He wasn't capable anymore to keep His throne. Wanting to give people a lesson for their disobedience, He created Sekhmet, right from the Core of the Sun and She was given the title Eye of Ra. A fierce lionness who seperated the just from the unfaithful and started a massacre of fire and blood. She almost eradicated the human race when Ra stopped her, tricking her into drinking a red potion which she thought was blood.

The story and the analysis on the Goddess is endless, so we'll focus on the painting. The inspiration started from the Sun, so the general background is yellow, orange and red in His honor, representing the fiery soul of the humans and where we come from, as beings of passion. The noisy atmosphere is there to represent the sand of Sahara desert, which in the myth was created by Sekhmet's breath of Fire. Finally, the hieroglyphics depicting the name of Sekhmet in egyptian language is a shadowy reflection of the unique and breathtaking temples of Egypt.

On the lionness now, there is a rainbow of colors, giving a hint about the human aura and ofcourse the chakras. The back part of Sekhmet is just a red idea of the first chakra and it's animal instict of survival. Also in the negative side of it, represents rage, vengeance and blood. Moving further up, there is a lot of green area around the heart, which is the color of the heart chakra. A lionness goddess is a pure reflection of the freedom, will and passion of the soul's desire.

Blue vibrating color indicates the throat chakra, the center of purification. As I described in the myth above, Sekhmet 's primal purpose of existance was to purify humanity, by getting rid of what She thought as parasites or evil. That's why the focus of blue is around the nose, Her instrument of finding out that which is not pure and destroy it.

Around Her eyes, I used pink-purple color which is the color of the center of the third eye. Here you should ask why I used vibrant red between the eyes. The answer lies at Her "Eye of Ra" title, so does the black arrow pointing straight at it, keeping it's meaning symbolical.

Finally, the white areas of Her body are there to remind us the crown chakra and our spirit, which is pure light, so the combination of Blue, Yellow and White is actually a translation of the whole's painting lesson:

"KEEP YOUR SOUL AND SPIRIT PURE"
